The trainers here at Patong Boxing Gym are highly experienced “Nak Muay’s” – some of which have 300+ fights under their belt. All have fought throughout Bangkok and at some of the most prestigious stadiums in the world – Lumpinee & Rajadamnern. “Lucky” is a Lumpinee Champion and he has taught other students that have gone on to win the famous Kings Cup event in Bangkok. However, it’s not only their fight experience that makes them good teachers, it’s their willingness to share their skills and their patience when teaching their students correct stance & new techniques.

Our training program is structured in a way that all of your training time is one-on-one time with your own personal trainer – and with all the personal attention that you get here, you’re sure to improve at a rapid rate. Personal training with professional fighters in an awesome location, what more do you need? Here’s some information about some of the trainers that are currently active here..

Sonram Giatbutsaba (MING)

“Ming” is originally from the Northern Region of Chiang Mai and he’s the “Master” trainer here at the camp. Ming was chosen to display all of the correct, traditional Muay Thai stances photographed in the book “A Golden Souvenir of Muay Thai”. As you can imagine he is quite famous for his technique. This is why he was chosen to oversee the training program here. He’s a pretty intense guy to train with. If you can handle a few rounds on the pads with Ming “beasting” you, then you’re in “fight shape”. Throughout his career, Ming has racked up 115 fights and he was victorious in 75 of them dispite facing some extremely tough opposition. He has fought in multiple bouts in Lumpinee Stadium, which is internationally recognized as being the “pinnacle of Muay Thai”.

Yodarwut (Wut)

A veteran fighter of Raja stadium in Bangkok, Yodarwut is also well known here in Patong (where he’s spent the last few years). Originally from Surin, he’s the most active fighter here at the gym and throughout the course of his career, he has racked up over 300 fights and 261 victories – all at only 23 years of age. Wut is very interactive while holding pads for his students and he does an great job at simulating an actual fight. If you get the opportunity to work with Wut during your stay here, consider yourself lucky as he’s an excellent trainer.

Payanoi (Nat)

“Nat” is originally from Lamphun, which is a small region located about 25km from Chiang Mai. He was brought up in the Siam No 1 gym and dispite his young age (20), he has racked up almost 200 fights and of those 200 fights, he has been victorious in 161 of them. He is well known in the Bangkok fight circuit as he has fought several times at Raja stadium. He is extremely well respect here as well as he usually headlines the fight cards and always puts on an amazing show. “Nat” always seems to go the extra mile (literally) for his students so if “Nat” ends up training you, be prepared to work.

Tawatchai (Aun)

Tawatchai is one of the best fighters in Patong, and the entire island of Phuket for that matter. Like several of the other trainers here, Tawatchai was also an active fighter at Raja stadium in Bangkok and throughout his career, he has racked up an impressive record of 140-20. He’s a very active fighter and oftentimes, the promoters have to fly in opponents from Bangkok just to give him a test. He has an extremely heavy kick so if you end up working with him, make sure to take advantage of his knowledge and ask him what he does to generate so much power. Tawatchai is a perfectionist when it comes to teaching . His technique correction skills are simply the best.

Ausmanlek (Ton)

Hailing from the Sian No 1 gym in Chiang Mai, Ausmanlek (otherwise known as “Ton”) has racked up over 300 fights throughout his impressive career. Of those 300 fights, he has been victorious in 250 of them dispite facing some tough opponents at some of the major stadiums throughout the country (Raja in Bangkok). There was a point in time where “Ton” was fighting upwards of 4-5 times per week. However, dispite being such an active fighter, “Ton” is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and you’ll rarely catch him without a smile on his face.

Anantasak Giatprasanchai (Phillip)

Phillip is a new addition to the gym and he’s originally from North-Eastern province of Buriram. He has racked up a total of 60 fights and before sustaining an knee injury while playing soccer, he was actively fighting at both the Lumpinee and Raja stadiums in Bangkok. Phillip is always willing to share his advice and he teaches some rather unorthodox, yet extremely effective maneuvers such as the “slide kick”, the “flip kick” and many other old-school Muay Thai techniques that are often overlooked today.

Sarigadong Giatbutsaba (Gan)

“Gan” is also from Chiang Mai and has racked up a total of 76 fights in his career. Of those 76 fights, he’s been victorious in 55 of them. While he looks rather unassuming, Gan utilizes flawless technique to outpoint and oftentimes, knock out his opponents during his fights. Like all of the other trainers here at Patong Boxing Gym, “Gan” has a wealth of knowledge that he’s eager to pass along to his students.

What often begins as a once in a lifetime opportunity, soon becomes an annual pilgrimage.

“The superior personal training, spot on technique and stance correction, sparring, clinching , overall care & consideration shown by everyone @ PBG is unique. No where else do they offer “personal training” and “private accommodation” as a standard.

My two week vacation in Thailand turned into a 3 year Muay Thai odyssey with the crew @ PBG. This is not a commercial, “turn you upside down and empty your pockets out” Muay Thai Camp ……..this is a seriously talented Muay Thai family. They will (unlike others) share their secrets, skills and talent with you. It’s a far cry from “going through the motions” in group lessons (which is the standard elsewhere). It’s as good as, and in most cases – better than – most of the camps in thailand (and that includes the stinky Bangkok fighter camps).

The trainers @ PBG are Lumpinee and Raja champions and they’ve trained students to become Thailand Champions in their own right. That speaks volumes to me. ”Lucky”, for instance, trained the winner of the prestigious Kings Cup here in Thailand. They are fully accredited and certified and have received numerous awards from the sanctioning bodies (WPMF and the WMC etc).

The assumption that you have to go to a gym in Bangkok to get good training is a joke. Sure, if you are seeking a career fighting, you eventually want to fight in Bangkok, but first you need some fights under your belt;) PBG can take you there. It’s definitely not stinky – PBG is gorgeous, unpretentious, and more importantly …they are helpful……… plus they speak English/Japanese and Chinese!

Come to Thailand, learn to fight traditional Muay Thai , from the Thai, like a Thai (and not a tourist). PBG is simply a cut above all the rest:) “

I would firstly like to say a huge thank you to Ming who trained and taught me during my visit. The amount of technical knowledge I gained from the training was truly incredible. Focusing on technical clinch work Ming taught me sweeps and throws, striking inside the clinch, different control positions along with advanced strategy on power and timing, and all with his very limited amount of English which made the learning all the more interesting! The atmosphere whilst training in the gym was very positive with all the trainers giving you a welcoming smile whilst the other students were always ready to offer a few helpful tips. I couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilling experience and my expectations were blown sky high. I would highly recommend any beginner, intermediate or advanced student to PBG and will be looking forward to arranging a returning visit in the near future!”

I went past the boxing gym 3 or 4 times in the tuk tuk (taxi) earlier in the week. I was determined to go back…so went for a run one morning from Karon beach to the gym to watch the morning training sessions - it was absoutely awesome. Certainly one of the best days of my holiday…and the run there was awesome too. Great hills for the calfs !!! If you go to Phuket – you have to check this out. If you want a great work out during your time in Phuket…this is the place to go.”
